St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday! Want to impress your friends with all of your St. Patrick’s Day knowledge? We’ve got you covered with these fun facts:

Legend says that each leaf of the clover has a meaning: Faith , Hope, Love and Luck. The fourth leaf, the extremely rare one, represents luck. Your odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000. In other words, don’t count on luck!

The real St. Patrick wasn’t Irish. He was born in Britain to an aristocratic Christian family. He was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned to convert the Irish to Christianity. He died on March 17, after he had established monasteries, churches, and schools all over Ireland.  

Many legends grew up around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the shamrock to explain the Trinity…the Father, Son and Holy Spirit….

Ireland came to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts. This day actually celebrates a man who gave his life to spread the Gospel…the leprechauns and green liquid to drink were not part of the original celebrations…
