Back in the day, Olympic Athletes were amateurs and couldn’t get paid for their sport… but that’s not the case any more. Did you know each medal has a price tag? This is what they get for winning in the United States:

Gold – $38,000

Silver – $23,000

Bronze – $15,000

It seems like a lot until you hear what Hong Kong pays out for a Gold medal – $786,000! Which is about $6 Million in Hong Kong dollars!

In Malaysia you’re offered a “Foreign made car” and in South Korea, you earn a lifetime pension!

It’s not all good for everyone though. Countries like Great Britain and Norway give their medalists nothing.
