Have you ever wondered the history of Tater Tots? Well wonder no more, we did the digging and found all of that out so you don’t have to!
Back in the day, a couple of brothers in a small Oregon town near Idaho wanted to grow their frozen corn business, to include potatoes, because… Idaho. They bought an old plant and turned it into a potato processing facility and Ore-Ida (Oregon-Idaho) was created! Plus, it was the fifties and folks were really into frozen foods.
Then the brothers decided to buy a prune processing machine to separate the French Fries from the scraps. When the machine was repurposed, the leftover potato scraps, which were still edible, were then hopped and mushed together, creating the infamous, Tater Tot!
